Welcome to
Stepps Cottage
Self Catering Accommodation near Fort William.
Stepps Cottage is situated on
our working croft in Banavie, a few miles outside
Fort William, as is our own house where we live
with our family. Set just off the A830 'The Road
to the Isles', our croft is nestled between the
Caledonian Canal and the West Highland Railway
line where the Jacobite Steam Train (otherwise
known as the Harry Potter train) passes daily in
the summer months. Stepps Cottage enjoys wonderful
views across the Caledonian Canal to the Aonach
Mor ski slopes, Ben Nevis (the highest mountain in
the UK) and Glen Nevis.
Stepps
Cottage with Hot Tub: The accommodation
is all on one level and sleeps up to 8 people. We
welcome up to 2 pets - please note the garden here
is not enclosed. Our livestock fields are
fully-fenced but we respectfully ask that you keep
pets under control while outside.
Stepps Cottage is ideal for a
family holidays and within easy access of all the
various activities on offer within the area.
Although Stepps Cottage is
located in a rural setting the local shop is only
0.75 miles away and it is a very short walk to a
pub/restaurant in the local hotel.
Fort William, the 'Outdoor
Capital of the UK', is just over 3 miles away and
has a variety of excellent facilities including
supermarkets, a cinema, an indoor climbing wall, a
leisure centre with a swimming pool and a number
of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants.
The Caledonian Canal,
constructed in the early 1800's, is considered by
many as one of the great waterways of the world.
Neptunes Staircase on the canal, which is within
walking distance of Stepps Cottage, is well worth
a visit to watch the yachts and other ships
negotiate the eight locks as they travel from one
side of Scotland to the other.
Stepps Cottage is an ideal base
to explore the surrounding area: Loch Ness and the
Great Glen is a short drive away, as is Glencoe
and the 'Road to the Isles' taking in Glenfinnan,
Arisaig and Mallaig.
You may wish to go further afield and take a ferry
from Arisaig or Mallaig to the Small Isles or
Skye; or from Oban over to Mull. The unspoilt
Ardnamurchan peninsula is also well worth a visit
- the lighthouse on Ardnamurchan Point is the most
westerly point on the UK mainland.
You may however just want to
relax and enjoy the view from the livingroom and
wave at the Jacobite Steam Train as it goes past.
